Compression Springs, Extension Springs, Torsion Springs

Springs & Coiling

Springs are a vital component in the production of a long-lasting and reliable machine. We can design and manufacture any spring you require including, compression, extension and torsion springs.

Compression Springs

Compression springs are wound with a pitched helical form usually with closed ends which are normally ground. Compression loads are applied to the ends of the spring in line with the central axis. They are one of the most common types of spring due to their efficient use of energy, simple method of production and their excellent static and dynamic properties.

When designing your compression spring, we will examine the correct working requirements of to ensure it’s designed with the appropriate fittings, wire diameter, spring diameter and most importantly the most cost-effective.

Our state-of-the-art CNC machines can manufacture your compression springs to the specific design that we have agreed with you.

There's a variety of materials available when making compression springs, including stainless steels, carbon or beryllium copper depending on the requirements of the spring.

Extension Springs

Extension springs are coiled without any open pitch, the coils are wound and the load is applied to hooks at each end with an extending load. Hooks can come in a wide range of shapes and sizes.

Our design team can work with you to ensure your extension spring is designed to fulfil your requirements. There are various materials available when producing extension springs from stainless steels and alloys, any environmental factors which may affect the spring’s performance will be factored in when we source the material to suit the application of your tension spring.  We can also apply heat treatment to your extension spring which can reduce the amount of initial tension.

Torsion Springs

Torsion springs can be wound with, or without, pitch. The ends of Torsion Springs are formed with legs or points of anchorage and rotational loads are applied. Torsion Springs can be produced with one or two coiled bodies.

They are stressed in bending, whereas compression and extension springs are stressed in torsion, in effect they are a wound-up cantilever.

When designing a torsion spring, we will factor in the tolerances using the latest spring design software and can provide a range of samples to ensure the correct torsion spring is manufactured for your need. We have invested in the latest CNC machines to ensure we can produce your torsion spring to your exact specifications.

Our design team will source the correct material for your torsion spring the most popular include stainless steels, alloys and high carbon spring steels.

Our quality control department will ensure you compression, extension and torsion springs are tested to the highest standard, we are registered to ISO 9001and we are also members of the Institute of Spring Technology.
